Liu Xiuhua



Liu Xiuhua, born in China, obtained her Ph.D degree in Chemistry from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998, and received her M.S. Degree in 1988 and Bachelor Degree in 1985 from Henan University. She has 30 years continuous teaching experience for college students, authored more than 100 publications, and holds 5 issued Chinese patents.

During September of 2001 to July of 2002, she was a Post-doctor research fellow in National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan, China. From March to September of 2006, she was a visiting scholar of the University of California, San Diego, USA and the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA. She is a Professor and Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at The University of Akron since September 10, 2016. Dr. Liu is also a Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering College of Henan University, as well as Key Laboratory of Natural Medicine and Immune-Engineering of Henan Province, China. Her research interests are Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicines, Chinese Tea, Food Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry.

Very recently, she is cooperating with Prof. Dr. Joseph Hornak, director of Magnetic Resonance Laboratory at the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA, to develop Low frequency electron paramagnetic resonance (LFEPR) spectroscopy to non-invasively and non-destructively study objects with cultural heritage significance.
