General Provision:

1. To encourage excellent international students to come to study in Henan University, as well as to expand the scale and level of the enrollment of international students, Henan University has established the Henan University International Students Scholarships (Scholarships for short). This regulation is made to manage the scholarships.

2. This regulation applies to international students at Henan University including full-time post-graduates, graduates and doctorate students

3. The Scholarships are subdivided into two categories: Excellent New Students Scholarship and Excellent Degree Students Scholarship.

4. The evaluation of the Scholarships will be carried out under the principle of openness, righteousness and justice.

Basic Requirements for Application:

1. Applicants of the Scholarships should satisfy all the following conditions:

1. Applicants should be foreign citizens with valid passports and should be friendly to China and in good health.

2. Applicants should be well-behaved, motivated, having no violations against school regulations or Chinese laws and regulations.

3. Applicants should be hard-working and with outstanding academic performance.

1. Either of the following situations appears, the qualification of the applicants will be cancelled.

1. Applicants default tuition fee with no reason.

2. Applicants have received academic warnings or dismissing warnings.

Excellent New Students Scholarship

1. Excellent New Students Scholarship is established for excellent international students who apply to study for degrees in Henan University. This scholarship exempts applicants from enrollment and registration fee as well as one-year’s tuition fee. Details are as follows:

• Applicants pursuing Bachelor’s degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Master’s degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Doctorate degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

1. Applicants who apply for the Excellent New Student Scholarship should also meet the following conditions:

1. Applicants should submit their notarized highest diploma. If the applicant is a student, he or she should also submit a certificate of schooling from the institution or department he or she is in. In the case that these certificates are not in Chinese or English, the notarized Chinese and English versions should be added.

2. Applicants should submit notarized transcripts, and in the same way, the notarized Chinese and English version should be added in case these transcripts are not in Chinese or English.

3. Applicants should submit letters of recommendation written in either Chinese or English.

4. Since all the classes will be given in Chinese, applicants who are pursuing Bachelor’s degree should have gained HSK Certificate grade 4 or above; Applicants who are pursuing Master’s degree should have gained HSK Certificate grade 5 or above; Applicants who are pursuing Doctorate degree should have gained HSK certificate grade 6 or above.

5. Applicants have not obtained any other scholarship from Chinese government.

Excellent Degree Students Scholarship

1. Excellent Degree Students Scholarship is established for excellent international students at Henan University. This Scholarship consists of Full Scholarship and Partial Scholarship. The details of tuition exemption are as follows:

1. Full Scholarship:

• Applicants pursuing Bachelor’s degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Master’s degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Doctorate degree: registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

1. Partial Scholarship

• Applicants pursuing Bachelor’s degree: part of registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Master’s degree: part of registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

• Applicants pursuing Doctorate degree: part of registration fee, management fee and one-year’s tuition fee.

The evaluation of Excellent Degree Students Scholarship will be conducted every school year. Applicants who failed the last evaluation can continue to study at their own expense and to apply for the scholarship next school year. The number of winners will be decided by the ISCLC according to practical situations.

1. Applicants for the Excellent Degree Students Scholarship should meet not only the basic requirements above but also the following conditions:

1. Since all the classes will be given in Chinese, applicants who are pursuing Bachelor’s degree should have gained HSK Certificate grade 4 or above; Applicants who are pursuing Master’s degree should have gained HSK Certificate grade 5 or above; Applicants who are pursuing Doctorate degree should have gained HSK certificate grade 6 or above.

2. Applicants have not obtained any other scholarship from Chinese government.

Procedures of Evaluation:

1. Scholarship for Excellent New Students and Scholarship for students pursuing degrees can be applied every school year.

2. Applicants for either Excellent New Students Scholarship or Excellent Degree Students Scholarship must submit application materials on 31^stMay every year; overdue submission will not be accepted.

3. The ISCLC will take charge of the work of organizing, coordinating and material reviewing.

4. After reviewing the qualification and application conditions of the applicants, the ISCLC will announce the list of winners.

5. If the students who have won the scholarship were found had practiced fraud or cheated in the process of evaluation, which was verified by investigation, the award titles will be cancelled, the scholarship and honor certificates will be withdrawn, and some discipline punishments will be released.

6. Winners of the Scholarships have to register and pay tuition fees on time; otherwise they will be considered as giving up the Scholarships. Students who have won the Scholarships cannot suspend or drop out of school with no reason; otherwise the Scholarships will be stopped or cancelled.

Supplementary Provisions:

1. This regulation will take effect from school year 2015 to 2016.

2. The ISCLC is responsible for the explanation of this regulation.
