At the beginning, the dean Li Weiguo cited one of Confucius’s famous saying “is it a delightful thing to have friends coming from afar?” to show the great welcome to the overseas students. He hoped that the students can join the big family of Henan University well. At last, he wished everyone a merry Christmas, a healthy body and great academic success in the coming year of 2013.

The gala began with a Christmas carol performed by four students from America. Then Aurea sang a Russian Song and Liang Yuanyi sang songs while playing the guitar. Students from different countries sang classical songs which brought endless enjoyment to everyone. Xiaoyu, a student form Cameroon, performed a Chinese song “You are in My Heart Forever From Now On” with exquisite singing skills. Cao Gangxuan with some other students performed a Chinese drama “The Readers” which was written and directed by themselves, bringing endless joy for everyone. Five students from Kyrghyzstan, South Korea, Laos and Egypt reproduced the story of “Three Visits to the Hut” from one of the classical Chinese historical book Romance of the Three Kingdoms with exquisite skills. And Chang’e, Lili and Zhang Li wore national costumes and performed a Kyrgyzstan’s dance, which allowed the teachers and students to experience the exotic style. Last but not the least, the dance titled with “Let’s Dance Together” led by Xiaoyu, Chen Si and Lang Yue draw everyone’s attention and brought the party to a climax.

The atmosphere of the gala was cheerful and joyful. It provided a platform for the overseas students to enjoy singing and dancing and brought about warmness and joy for everyone before Christmas and the coming New Year.
